Werner Schmitt, Member, European Advisory Board
Werner Schmitt is a German-born educator and arts advocate, who founded the Yehudi Menuhin Forum in Bern, a vibrant center that celebrates Lord Menuhin’s artistic and humanist legacy.
Previously, he served as Director of the Bern Conservatory in Switzerland, where he promoted the integration of the arts into holistic education.
In 1993, Werner Schmitt co-founded the MUS-E programme with Lord Yehudi Menuhin, bringing arts-based learning to schools across more than 16 countries.
He began his career as a musician before moving into education.
His work has earned him numerous accolades, including the 2010 Education Prize from the Pädagogische Hochschule Zürich (PHZH) and the Pestalozzianum Foundation.
Werner Schmitt is fluent in German and French.
